Upper Paugussett State Forest

Date: 3/18/2012
Trail Name: Upper Paugussett State Forest
Town: Newtown
Trail Conditions: Freaking awesome!

Observations/Information: I had heard through the grapevine that the Mulikin Trail was reopened so I decided to check it out.  Firstly, I rode up the Gussy Trail and sure enough, the horseshit near the Wetspot was still there so I kicked it off the trail.  The Gussy is riding really nice but I have an idea for another tweak which is a loop around so that if you are coming from the boat ramp and you want to do an up and down, then you don't necessarily need to just turn around at the end of the trail.

Really?  You can't take them out yourself?
I am still finding Michelob Ultra cans in the forest.  I found three more today and all told I have pulled out 8 or 9.  I wonder how many are or were on trails not commonly ridden?

After the Hurricane, the top part of the Mulikin Trail was fine but the October Snow fixed that.  The mid section was hit the worst during the Hurricane with a big tree crown falling on the trail just after the second stream crossing.  Well, it appears the trail gnomes have finally fixed that.

A corduroys has been started and needs to be finished to keep bikes out of the mud at the intersection of the white trail.  Or just use the re-route that I have been riding all these years.  In fact, I can think of a few other places where some corduroys or armoring is needed on this trail to make it more sustainable year round.
