Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: West Rock Ridge SP
Town: Hamden
Trail Conditions: Muddy in spots
Observations/Information: I hiked at West Rock on various trails, including the Red Trail from Lake Wintergreen to the newly blazed Teal Trail (not official for mountain biking, but I'm working on that).
Portions of the Red Trail near Common Ground HS are an absolutely muddy mess. I need to bump this up in the priority list for the West Rock trails crew.
A couple of weeks ago I dug a channel on the Red Trail just south of Lake Wintergreen where the water was running all over the trail. The channel seems to be working for the most part, but would probably benefit from a culvert to keep the trail dry.
I picked up some litter around the lake and the parking area on the way out.
The park was hopping today (75 degrees and sunny) with fishermen, hikers, dog walkers, and bikers.
