Date: 3/8/2015
Report Type: TA Report
Trail Name: Naugatuck State Forest
Town: Oxford (and a tiny bit of Beacon Falls)
Trail Conditions: Snow/Packed Snow
Observations/Information: Today's first-light ride @ Naugy West Block. If the forecast holds, it may be my last snow ride of the season.
In(out) @ Rt. 42. I decided to ride the east side of Res 4 this time, so I headed up that way. Right at the T intersection, down the Camaro trail, across the Res 3 dam, down the steep hill, around Res 2 and out. This route kept me 90%+ of the time on snowmobile tracks.
It appears the snowmobiles haven't been back in since the relatively light snow the other day, so the going was a bit harder than it was the last time I was there.
The ice is already off a couple of the riprap stream crossings.
TM = removed a couple of downed branches poking up at odd angles into the trail.
I had the place to myself, but plenty of dog poop and yellow snow in evidence.
