Naugatuck State Forest

Date: Aug. 1, 2014
Report Type: TA Report
Trail Name: Naugatuck State Forest
Town: Seymour
Trail Conditions: Short and overgrown
Observations/Information: The Naugatuck Forest includes a small block divided by Cemetery Road in Seymour, just past the traffic circle on Rt. 188. I hiked this in the winter and definitely did some bushwhacking. I biked it last week to GPS the woods roads and the trails for the state. The woods roads in the section south of Cemetery Road nearer the traffic circle are short and don't connect to each other. Total riding distance is about a mile. There is another woods road on the north side of Cemetery Road that loops over to Titus Lane and runs about 0.8 miles. Riding between the two involves an incredible steep hill on Cemetery Road. There are also some beat up sections of ATV trails here and there. Nothing is blazed in these areas. You would be better off parking at Oxford High School and riding those trails.
