Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: River Highlands State Park
Town: Cromwell
Trail Conditions: Crap!
Observations/Information: I went for a hike at River Highlands Saturday afternoon. Boots only, although there was still 5-10 inches of snow. It was more of a crushed ice, like what's left of a margerita after you suck away the alcohol. Hard to walk on and even harder I suspect to ride on. The packed areas are getting icy (see photo).
Its hard to believe the blizzard was only three weeks ago, it seems like longer. We had the big dump, now the big melt, and next we'll have the big wait (for the trails to dry). This will be one of the first places to dry out once the snow does melt. It will be at least another week.
Now would be the time to pull out that road bike you never ride. Clean off the cobwebs and pump up the tires, and bide your time.
