Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: River Highlands State Park
Town: Cromwell
Trail Conditions: Good
Observations/Information: Took a quick pre-storm spin at River Highlands Thursday morning. I had more important things to do but used the storm as an excuse to get out and ride for hopefully not the last time in a while. It was cold but relatively windless, and the sun was shining bright. The trails were in good shape, clear and well defined for the most part. The few spots that get direct sunlight were a little soft. I crossed paths with a dog walker who commented on the recent and propably unofficial but well done trail clearing that has been going on.
I sessioned the sidewinder a few times and realized that it's pumpable- meaning you can ride it like a pump track. There's a tree leaning low over the trail just past the first corner, but it's high enough that only tall people need to worry. The trail could also use raking.
