Trail Name: River Highlands State Park
Town: Cromwell
Trail Conditions: Fine
Observations/Information: Did a solo ride at River Highlands Monday afternoon. The snow hadn't completely melted yet because this park slopes to the East and doesn't get direct sunlight in winter. Soem of the trails had a thin layer of crunchy snow although many were bare. There was also some ice in a few places, mainly the carriage roads, but not really enough to worry about. The ground was nice and hard, as was the rumpled ice in the parking lot.
I was amazed to see fresh tracks in the snow- apparently someone had been riding earlier in the day.
Trails were in good shape, no new blowdowns, and they appear to be getting a fair amount of use, even the less popular ones. That use is keeping them clear and well defined.
