Collis P Huntington SP

Date: 8/24/11
Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: Collis P Huntington SP
Town: Bethel
Trail Conditions: Good but dry.
Observations/Information: Hit Huntington Wednesday afternoon. I stayed on the Bethel side of the park and explored some unfamiliar trails, chiefly what I'll call the "backyard trail", so named because you see a lot of backyards from the trail. It's a fun trail with some very challenging sections and a freeride- style wooden drop. Trails were all in good shape, busy with riders, and I saw more evidence of braid-closing. The soil is very dry, though, a loose-over-hard condition that had my rear wheel spinning a lot more than usual. That might change in a very big way this coming weekend, however, so get out and ride before the cataclysm!
