River Highlands State Park

Date: October 18, 2013
Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: River Highlands State Park
Town: Cromwell
Trail Conditions: Good, dry, leafy

Observations/Information: I headed to River Highlands Thursday afternoon planning on a short shakedown/setup ride for the suspension fork I had just installed on my bike. When I got there, however, I found the lot to be full of mountain bikers- more than I had ever seen there at one time. A local high school cycling club was wrapping up a ride, and two chapter members , Ed and Tony, were getting ready to hit the trails. I decided, instead of futzing with the fork, to show Ed and Tony around. We only had an hour of light but got in a good tour, taking in the gravity cavity, sidewinder, and the sand wash. We rode the yellow, green, blue, and red trails. All were dry, clear, and in good condition although the leaf layer is getting deeper by the day.
