Upper Paugussett State Forest

Date: 7/6/2013
Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: Upper Paugussett State Forest
Town: Newtown, CT
Trail Conditions: Mixed conditions
Observations/Information: The Upper Gussy trail is looking a lot better these days, considering we only got an 1" of rain in the past week but there are some trouble spots that need to be addressed.

The trail is starting to grow in at various points so if you are concerned about ticks (we should all be concerned) make sure you have plenty of deet on to ward those pesky fellers off!

With the heat and humidity we have been having this past week the smaller rocks in the trail, especially those that don't get a lot of sun, are really sweaty and greasy.

The Poly Brody is a different story altogether but then again, it's more of a logging road and doesn't support any sustainable features so prepare to get dirty if you are going to ride this section.

Did not ride the Mulikin but I did go down the connector trail to the boat ramp and that is a fun, fast downhill from the logging road. Just be wary that if you are going to rip through there to watch out for hikers.
