Naugatuck State Forest

Date: 7/9/13
Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: Naugatuck State Forest
Town: Naugatuck/Oxford/Beacon Falls
Trail Conditions: Mostly good
Observations/Information: Took a quick pre-work ride this morning, starting from the Hunter's Mountain lot, down the fire road and on a couple of the trails to the south, and back. (Mostly doubletrack, with the exception of the connecting trails.)

Fire road has loose stone, and some evidence of dirt bike usage.

Tis the season so on the subordinate trails beware the brush (especially prickly stuff) growing in from the sides, and the green stuff sprouting up from the bottom that may obscure obstacles.

Trimmed some briers growing well into the trail, and one branch. On the first south-heading trail after the curve in the fire road that brings you into Beacon Falls, there's a blowdown that's been there long enough to inspire not one but two bypasses (on either end).

Ditto re: the bugs (good incentive to try not to stop even on that infernal climb up the hill back to the lot 8^)
