West Rock Ridge SP

Date: 11/7/12
Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: West Rock Ridge SP
Town: Hamden
Trail Conditions: Surprisingly good considering the recent storm
Observations/Information: My friend and I decided to try to beat the nor'easter. Rode the white to the red trails and back again. Decided to stay away from the ridge due to the forcast of high winds. Had a pleasant ride, trails were all clear and in good shape. We were surprised. The problem areas were on the red trail, the dirt road areas where there were several blow downs. 1)Just out of the Lake Wintergreen Parking lot, the red trail on your left, downed trees blocking the trail/road
2)Just out of the Lake Wintergreen Parking lot, before the little bridge on the red trail, several downed trees blocking the trail/road.
3)In the woods, some trees are leaning against others, they do not look like they are going anywhere, specifically, when going out, just before you cross the paved road and then go over the steel decked bridge with the small body of water on your left.
We got back to the parking lot as the snow started to fly. The woods were getting white, the roads were wet. Approximately 1/2 hour later, the side roads were getting white, the temps were 33-34 degrees.
