West Rock Ridge SP

Date: Oct. 27, 2012
Report Type: TM Report:
Trail Name: West Rock Ridge SP
Town: Hamden
Trail Conditions: Dry and clear
Observations/Information: I did work with help from a couple of other people at some scattered locations at West Rock, including picking up litter at Judges Cave, cutting invasive vines and pricker bushes along Baldwin Drive, and cutting back pricker bushes by the open field near Farm Brook Reservoir (the flood control pond off Hill Street). Most importantly, I reblazed the Red Trail from the field up to the junction of the Blue Trail. Some of the blazes were badly faded, and a couple of trees in key locations had fallen. One key challenge in this area: there's no way to blaze an open field, so it can be tricky to find your way across the field from the woods to the gravel road near the pond. The only section of Red that needs to be reblazed is the gravel road from the pond to Mountain Road.
