George C Waldo State Park

Date: September 8, 2012
Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: George C Waldo State Park
Town: Southbury
Trail Conditions: Good
Observations/Information: I snuck in a quick solo ride (solo quickie?) at Waldo Saturday morning, hoping to beat the rain and I did, but just barely. The air was extremely dank and muggy but there was also a strong breeze that moderated the unpleasantness and it really only got uncomfortable on the climb back up. Down Where's Waldo, over the Captain's Log, up Extra Credit, and back up Waldo, stopping for a few minutes at the campsite for the obligatory photo. The trail was in excellent condition, Extra Credit has been much improved with wider and more clearly defined benching. The soil was dry but not dusty (subject to change). Only problem is a large oak tree across the trail past the powerline.
The forcast calls for severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and then a clear, dry and sunny day on Sunday. If you ride Sunday, please use good judgement regarding any wet or muddy areas you encounter.
