Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: Collis P Huntington SP
Town: Redding
Trail Conditions: Well used
Observations/Information: Paula and I rode Huntington Friday late afternoon. The place was not as busy as it usually is on Friday afternoon, possibly because of the heat and humidity. Are you ready for Autumn yet?
We rode Burn Loop, Old Mine, South Pond, Big Boulder, and the southern half of Rock n'Roll. The trails were dry and there were no blowdowns to speak of, and the trails were well used, as always. There were some horses in in the recent past (manure on the trails). Some of the steeper slopes are becoming badly eroded and only marginally rideable. Looks like some recent attemps were made to dumb down the trails in the Burn Loop area (removal of logs and rocks, wideining of the trail).
Huntington is good to go for the weekend, just watch out for horse manure!
