Trail Name: River Highlands State Park
Town: Cromwell
Trail Conditions: Good
Observations/Information: I finally got a chance to go to the Blow Hole and clean up the benching on the sidewinder reroute. The trail had been smoothed and hardened by time and use and was in much better shape than the last time I had seen it, but I was still able to improve it, mainly by raking duff off of the lower lip.
I also spent some time on the lower benching on the yellow trail, doing mainly the same thing (raking duff). I also hardened a section that was getting soft and unstable.
Oh yes, and I hate to say it, but pictures don't lie, and there's another tree across the yellow trail, just below the second benching. It's a beech that was apparently taken down by wind (it might have been weakened by last year's severe weather). It's a big tree that will require either a chain saw or a large hand saw to cut. Let's hope it disappears quickly.
