TA Report: Waldo State Park

Date: May 3 2011
Report Type: TA Report
Trail Name: Waldo State Park
Town: Southbury
Trail Conditions: Very good
Observations/Information: I hit Waldo for a "quickie" before work. The trail dry to dusty with just one wet spot, although that might change by the time you read this. The new section past the fire road is packing down nicely, although I found it once again blocked at the top. I unblocked and moved the brush far into the woods to discourage reblocking. Another unfortunate development is that people are starting to cut corners and straighten the trail, especially on the fast twisty section after the powerline. This is not good. The trail was built twisty for a reason and it's a great place to develop your cornering skills, but not if you don't actually take the corners.

Waldo is a great trail that has just about everything an intermediate rider could want, and also some more challenging sections for the advanced riders, with go-rounds for those of lesser ability. It's fun to ride both ways and an out-and-back will take between 1 and 1 ½ hours.
