TA Report: Nassahegon State Forest

Date of Activity: Report covers the month of July
Trail Ambassador Name: Mark Leggitt
Conditions: Good news! The tornado that hit nearby Bristol missed the Nass. No damage that we could find.
As during June, the trails have been very dry with heavy underbrush growth. TM crews continue their hard work trimming back heavy growth and repairing wind damage, downed trees and erosion problems. The popular trails are seeing incredible traffic while some of the lesser known or harder to get to trails go nearly unridden. During the month I was able to
experience roughly 55 or the 70-plus miles out here and most everything is superb. Two older trails - Hunter's extension and the Upper Damnation - were re-opened this past week to riders after a couple of years neglect. Two other trails were closed due to renewed logging on both the Johnnycake Mountain and Sessions Woods areas.
While there has been an increase in ATV use, the most significant trail problems seem to be those of high useage and erosion of poorly designed trails. The TM crews are discussing the best ways to address these issues.

Trails: Soccer Fields, Stone West, Sessions Woods, Johnnycake East and West areas and the Scoville areas
How Used: Mountain biking, hiking, and Trail Maintenance
Duration: 22 manhours of Trail Maintenance
