TA Report: Brooksvale Park & Naugatuck SF

Date of Activity: 4/10/10 & 4/11/10
Condition of Trails(s): Dry (except for a very few muddy spots)

Name: Mike Michaud
Trail Ambassador Email: mdmichaud@cox.net
Town: Hamden & Cheshire
Location: Brooksvale State Park & Naugatuck State Forest
Trail(s) Ridden: BP: (Blue, Red, Green, Orange); NSF: (Yellow, Gray, White, plus power & gas lines, and some dirt/gravel fire road)
How did you use the trail: Mountain biking
What was the time of day: 9:00 am
Duration (Hours): 4.5 hrs (1.5 Sat & 3 Sun.)
Work accomplished: picked up miscellaneous litter along trails, cut & removed a fallen tree across the trail (too high to go over, too low to get under; just an accident waiting to happen)
Observations: Trails were awesome! Everything dried out very well except for a few muddy places (where last week those were loaded with mud or filled with standing water). Just walked around those to get back on dry trails. Saw a coyote ducking back into the woods near the gas lines (close to Broken Arrow nursery). Found a bunch of deer tracks, plus tracks from other animals as well (attached pic has 3 different animal tracks together: a deer, a small rodent, and a medium-sized raccoon/beaver or some other weasel thing).
