TA Report: Pequonnock River Valley

Date of Activity: January 3, 2010
Trail Ambassador Name: Mark Lurie
Trail Ambassador Email: eatsleepfishatgmaildotcom

Town: Trumbull
Location: Pequonnock River Valley
Trail(s) Ridden: Red, Yellow, White, Blue and a few bootlegs

How did you use the trail? Mountain Bike
What was the time of day? Midday
Duration (Hours): 2.5
Distance (Miles): 7
Condition of Trail(s): Snowy

Observations: Snow had the perfect consistency for riding! Not too deep, maybe 3 to 4 inches in some places. Parts of the red and yellow trail along the ledges are pretty well ridden making it very easy pedal. Looked at a few more sections that could be rerouted on this ride. Discovered some new trails and scoped out the possibility of tying other trails together to improve the riding experience.

Encounters: Had a problem with a brake cable coming loose and didn't have any zip ties. Ran into this group of three riders, one of which is Bill Lake - on left - a NEMBA member, but the guy on the right, Rich is the one who hooked me up with a zip tie.

Also ran into a group of dog walkers out letting their dogs enjoy the snow. Told them about our plans in the spring and to check back here for upcoming events.
