New England Trail and Advocacy School in CT

Left to Right - Mike, Paula, Phil

Today Phil Keyes, director of NEMBA, Mike Tabaczynski and myself scouted out work for the Trail and Advocacy School which will be held in Redding on May 16 and 17. Phil and Mike drove down from Massachusetts and will be teaching at the school. This is a yearly event which attracts trail builders and advocates from all around New England. The weekend will be filled with workshops, hands on trail building, rides, camping, and food. The CT Chapter is offering several partial scholarships to interested members. Right now we still have a few scholarships left. The weekend will kick off Friday night with a ride at Huntington State Park and then we'll go get some food in Bethel. All are invited to the ride. For info on the ride and social, contact Paula at peburton@aol.com. The workshop begins Saturday morning and pre registration is required. Check out this link http://nemba.org/nembaevents/TrailSchool.html or contact Phil Keyes at pk@nemba.org for more info.

NEMBA Trail Care Series Winner: Paula Burton

Paula Burton, CT NEMBA Trail Boss, won an awesome new Trek Fuel EX from the NEMBA Trail Care series.

"Wow", she says, "I didn't even know there was a raffle. Your name goes into the raffle every time you do trail work."  Paula continues," I can't wait to spring and dry trails to check out the new bike."

She racked up many hours building a new trail at Waldo Park in Southbury and doing trail maintenance at Huntington State Park in Redding.

Trek dealer Class Cycles of Southbury put the bike together. Shown left to right,  Scottie, bike mechanic, Paula, and Roy, owner of bike store.
