Naugatuck State Forest

Date: 3/1/2015
Report Type: TA Report
Trail Name: Naugatuck State Forest
Town: Oxford (and a tiny bit of Beacon Falls)
Trail Conditions: Snow/Packed Snow

Observations/Information: I went back over to Naugy West Block this morning, for a "before the snow flies" ride on the Wo.

Did a figure-eight: in(/out) at Rt 42 gate, up west side #2, east side #3 to #4, (quick trip out to the parking lot, then) down west side #3, east #2, down around #1, and back up and out.

The snow is even more packed than the other day, though in a few hours it won't be, with another 4-6" expected. I stayed on snowmobile tracks, with the exception of the trail from Res 4 down the west side of Res 3. Principally foot/paw traffic there, so if you like skinnies...

Ample, um, evidence of dog walkers. In fact, I hit a loose patch at the trail junction southwest corner of Res 3 and dumped it, and my head landed a few inches from a "canine calling card."

TM = clear odd branch.

One car in the little parking dugout when I got there, but didn't see anyone. (Car was gone when I came out.)
