Naugatuck State Forest

Date: Feb. 2, 2014
Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: Naugatuck State Forest
Town: Oxford
Trail Conditions: Icy and muddy
Observations/Information: I hiked the Naugatuck State Forest from the Oxford Reservoirs side. The woods roads and trails had a crust of ice on them with some mud underneath. There were some sections of lose dirt, evidence of ATV activity. The woods road to the east of Reservoir 4 is becoming more and more of a rock garden. The trails are fairly clear of blowdowns. While walking, I nipped back a fair amount of overhanging branches. A friend picked up some trash. The pickup truck located between Reservoirs 3 and 4 has been removed. If only the state could pull out the Camaro east of Reservoir 4.
