Shenipit SF

Date: 4/30
Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: Shenipit SF
Town: Somers, Ellington
Trail Conditions: dry
Observations/Information: I get out on Tuesdays for my one free afternoon ride. Been doing the full pull at Snip ( Dillenback Rd to Hopkins and back ) using mostly yellow and orange diamond trails with some rouge stuff thrown in. The blue trail is labeled " no bikes" near the mountain, but further out there isn't any signs that the hikers have reclaimed the trail. After 4 rides, 7 hours on the trail across 50+ miles I have yet to see another rider in the woods.

One of the strange bits is seeing the evolution of the trails...The toughest lines I learned to ride 15 years ago have almost all been forgotten. While freeridey features had been added, the original techy stuff had been avoided. I guess a lot of that coincides with how bikes have developed, and I'm not even pointing this out to be negative, just pointing it out. The good news is that, even if it all looks pretty blown out there is still a genuine mtbike line to ride on all of this stuff. Out and back from Dillenback is about 18 mi of good oldfasioned bruiser mountain biking for anyone who wants it. Most of the rogue trails are well thought out (armored stream crossings are a nice level of detail). Come out and ride Snip...even if it's not perfect, it's all good.
