West Rock Ridge SP

Date: Dec. 22, 2012
Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: West Rock Ridge SP
Town: Hamden
Trail Conditions: Generally clear
Observations/Information: I hiked various trails in the park, including the Red-White Trail from the Hill Street parking area (use 610 Hill St.) to get you there with GPS, and the Red Trail along the gravel road. I also hiked the Yellow Trail (which is officially not open to bikes, but I have recommended to the state that it be allowed), the norther portion of Baldwin Drive, and the old Sanford Road. All is clear of blowdowns. There are some wet spots due to the recent rain. The Boy Scouts who built the bridge on the Red Dot Trail built a ramp on both sides, so biking over the bridge is now possible. Litter in the Hill Street parking area is a continuing problem. It seems I always am taking away two buckets worth of bottles and cans, which I again did.
