Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: Upper Paugussett State Forest
Town: Newtown
Trail Conditions: Good
Observations/Information: Paula and I took a quick ride at Upper Paugussett late Saturday afternoon. We went up the forest road and down the Gussy trail- 3 2/3 miles and about 45 minutes time. There were some wet spots and even some running water on the lower part of the road. The upper part of the road and the Gussy trail were dry, although the streams were running. The soil on the trail was very dry, almost dusty. The trail seems to be getting a lot of use, and is starting to look like it's been there a while. The reroute is now easy to follow- you're no longer continuing on the old trail by accident. A section lower down has recently been improved- taken off a fall line and a nice sweeping turn has been added. This trail gets better every time I ride it.
