TA Report: Hop River State Rail Trail

Date: April 16, 2012

Trail Name: Hop River State Rail Trail
Town: Vernon-Bolton-Andover-Columbia
Trail Conditions: Very dry/dusty

Observations/Information: The weather forecast....quite warm for an April "30 Miler". I left at 8:30am headed out towards Columbia (Parker Bridge Rd area). Trails are very dry and dusty. In Vernon, (Mile Marker 2.5-3.0) the DPW had a work truck and "cherry picker with bucket" trimming all the high branches from the 2011 storm damage. I spoke with the crew and the gentleman told me they clear about a half mile per day. They expect to be there over the next 2 weeks. A few people still taking pics of the new RT 316 Bridge in Andover. I did help one rider looking for directions to Lake Rd. Mother nature sure needs to bring us some rain!
