Hop River State Rail Trail

Date: Aug 16, 2011
Report Type: TA Report:
Trail Name: Hop River State Rail Trail
Town: Vernon-Andover
Trail Conditions: Excellent
Observations/Information: Starting out in Vernon (RT 30), I noticed trail landscaping was performed: trail side grass mowed, plants and mulch beds added, small sapplings cut back. Excellent riding out to Andover (Burnap Brook). Had to stop frequently to remove tree branches from the past 2 days of rain & wind. LTRA group was out at 6:00 for their ride. Wonderful news for area residents listed below!
*NEWS: Journal Inquirer reported in a newspaper article yesterday: The state Transportation Department will finance a multimillion dollar extension of the Charter Oak Greenway into Bolton Notch, connecting the bike path and walking trail with miles of existing trails along the Hop River. Ability to connect with Valley Falls, East Haddam, and Gay City Park.
