TM Report: Cockaponset / Weber Woods

Date: April 20, 2011
Report Type: TM Report
Trail Name: Cockaponset / Weber Woods
Town: Clinton
Trail Conditions: Moist with low sections of mud
Observations/Information: Needed to break in a new pair of mid weight hiking boots so I took to the green trail for some Spring trail clean up; the main dirt road from the west lot has a lot of mud in low sections, and once on the trail, it was a lot better, but still moist after all the recent rain; picked up a ton of over winter blow down all along the way; discovered an old hidden logging road across from the cliffs and hit it; not technical, but very nice natural features including passes through of a couple of stone walls and a small brook crossing requiring a short hop; cleaned up lots of decent sized downed trees and ended up intersecting a trail used by horse riders exiting the farm; looped around back to the green; with a minor bit of work, it would add a great 3/4 mile loop to the trail system on the western portion; a great day.
