Encounters & Observations: Trails were super fast today, not me mind you, just the trails. Encountered a deer and a rabbit, both very close. The orange jersey must be soothing to them. I saw Charlie B. on the trails. He asked me to keep an eye out for some of his equipment because he forgot to zip up his seat pouch. I found his tube and co2 cartridge but not the multi-tool. He said the new TA jersey’s are cool but he prefers the pockets and zippers. At 70 and mtb’ biking, he should get what he wants! Every trail was nice and dry until I got to the bottom. The fire road between the dikes and RT 44 were still pretty wet. That’s normal. I was having a great ride until I was on the seat buster trail were a tree jumped out in the middle of the riding trail. It won. Made for a long last portion of the ride…. Ugh…..
Please pay attention when on the fence line. MDC is doing all kinds of work all up and down there. They have signs posted and move some of them on the weekends but there are so many trails in that area but it’s easy to end up on a trail that you shouldn’t be because they don’t have signs posted at every entrance/exit. Great time for riding at West Hartford MDC!
Cleared some brush and branches off of the less ridden trails coming down from the top of the blue trail to the planks. Now you can keep your speed.
