Saturday, June 18, 2009 Trail Ambassador Name: Rich C Trail Ambassador Email: mtnbikerdad[at]yahoo[dot]com Town: Trumbull Location: Pequonnock Valley State Forest Trails Ridden: Various How did you use the trail?: Hiking, TM What was the time of day? Morning Duration (Hours): 2.5 Observations: Due to heavy rains this year, the trail to the north footbridge has undergone serious erosion. Although the trail is just a short jaunt from the rail bed to the bridge, it was built on a fall line and the rail bed itself is starting to washout.
As an alternative to hikers and bikers, I reopened the bramble trail (a hundred feet south). It was extensively overgrown -- a dense thicket of pricklers needed cutting - ouch! Is this a sustainable solution? No -- with a couple of years, unless trimming is scheduled, it will grow back. Nature has it ways... |

What you need to do is block off this trail and redirect everyone over to the new trail connector!
The good news. . . great to have the trail reopenned. Thanks!
The bad news. . . as of 7/29 a tree fell and is blocking the reopenned section.
